Why You Should Attend Ingram Micro’s ONE Event

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

No matter how much the tech world evolves, as humans, we will always need relationships.

Even as an IT service provider, Ingram Micro recognizes the value of face-to-face interaction. Talking to someone over email or even video conference does not have the same magnitude as in-person.

That’s why Ingram Micro established the ONE Event

Ingram Micro’s Director of Event Marketing & Partner Communities, Holly Niedzielski, sits down with us to answer all our questions about this one-of-a-kind conference. In this episode, we cover the value of relationships in business, the power of live working solutions, and more.

You're listening to be to B tectok withingre micro, the police tol learn about new technology and technologicaladvances before they become mainstream. This pid Gast is sponsored by dealingtechnology, make your home smarter, safer and truly seamless, let's getinto it, welcome to be to be TEC, Tak with IngerMygir, I'm your host Karry Roberts and our guests today is Halinajolski thedirector of event, marketing partner communities and programs at Inge Micro. As a twenty three year veteran at angre micro higly leads the strategy ofIngrer Micros, one event, which is Inger Micro's first world widemultichannel event. Welcome. Holly. Thank you for being here high, carrythings for having me today, so we are going to be talking today. All thingsabout this one event, and I would love for you to start us off with how did itbegin and what was the vision for it...

...yeah. So this was something that youmentioned in my bio. I've been with ENGRLOM for a long time and an eventstrategy was something that's always been part of my responsibility. We do alot of evensiting or microl upwards, O fifteen hundred a year and M. lookingat the different events that we had. There was a lot of commonalities alongwith that, and one of the things we thought about is what is common, andwhat do we want our reseller partners to know as well as our industry, wewanted to be able to bring together ingrubeing the biggestdistributor in the world in the largest and has the most breath and depth. Wewanted to be able to show what our power ofin remicro was, and what betterway to do that with showing the ecosystem of Inger micro through a faceto face of them and in a digital world today, where everybody is online anddoing things remotely. Why do you feel it's important for people toparticipate in live in person, events,...

...yeah and that's a great question right'cause? You would think we were probably going more digital events andthings that people could do on trains and buses in in their offices, and willthey still holds true? The fact of the matter is people buy from people andpeople need relationships and personal connections, and they want to feelcomfortable when they're buying from a distributor or their partner or thevendor they're meeting other solution providers that are in their areas ofexpertis. They want to make sure that they're looking them in the eye they'reshaking their hands, they're, building a personal relationship with them, which will then continue business later and even in the digital world that thatis not going to change, and we found that even more and more important as weget less and less away from humor in human interaction yeah it. It makes a acomplete difference, and I think it's great you know when you're, interactingwith people online or on the phone or a potcast, and you get to see them inperson. It just ran the whole another level of interaction which is Great. Doyou personally have any stories of...

...interest that you'd love to share fromprevious one events that you think are great? Yes, abtolutely, so ive? Quitequite a few. We started these in two thousand and fourteen and which reallybeen very interesting s to see how they started in the beginning. Our veryfirst one event was the first time that we actually put together a real workingsolution, and what I mean by that is, we took you know in in a ball. Room ofLas Vegas M actually was New Orleans. We put together a store, it was abakery and we put together a classroom. We put together a hotel room and ableto show in real life what the front end of these solutions were and what thebackend was. So as a solution, provider or a vendor, I could see where myexperkise would play and it was really cool. There was one that we did, whichwas a school which was a classroom and...

...one of our reseller partners waslooking in the classroom and he's looking at all the technology, and hesays okay. Well, I sell that server and I sell that monitor. I sell that akeyboard. I can see the software and he's playing with like the desk and thechairs and he's pulling the desk up and putting it down and he's looking at itvery intently. He said I never realized how much business I was leaving on thetable, I'm looking at it from a technology standpoint. I wasn't lookingat it that I could bring the whole solution to the school. I can sell themthese dests and these chairs and th economic. You know things that theyneed and thank you for showing me that, because I was leaving all that businesson the table, and that was our very first event and then we knew we hadsomething really special there yeah, I think you know the ability tophysically see something and be in it. It helps tremendously 'cause, like yousaid, you can see all the moving pieces of what works what's missing. So it'sis great branding for for your company as well, absolutely you're, absolutelyright and I'll say the other thing too.

That has been really Um. Incredible isnow since two thousand and fourteen we've expanded our one event into fourdifferent regions. Globally, so it started in North America and then wehave since gone into the Latin America region. I just came back last Fridayfrom Singapore, where the Apac region had their second annual one event, andearlier this summer I was in Madrid where the Amia region was having theirvery first one event. So you can see the success in these events that areresellers are seeing that Ingram, obviously as seeing as well as ourvendor partners, and now all the different regions are able toexperience the power of one Ey, everyone. We hope you're enjoying thisepisode of Beto B Tactalk with Ingra micro. Let's pause for a moment torecognize our sponsor dealing systems are network speeds lowing, you down orsecurity rest top of mind, talk with dealing systems leverae to awardwinning products and deployed networks...

...that are second to none with D link, wireless surveillance and switching solutions, contact Ashley Vigerio atIngram Micro. Today, that's Ashley Ashl by Dot, Rugerio R, U gg, er Io atingramicro com, also before we jumped straight back into today's episode. Wewanted to let you know about one of the industry's most important events: IngerMigros, one thusand and nineteen, even on November eighteenth through November, twenty first at the Gay Lord Rocky's convention. One is your chance toexperience. What's new and exciting insecurity, Iot clown and more alsoyou'll be able to network with other businesses, industry experts, ingramicro associates and or vendorpork contact, your Ingra microrepresentative for details on how to register today all right, let's getback to the shel. How does anger MICO decide where tohost these events?...

A lot of different things come intoplay. First of all, it's it's really. Where are we going to be able tomaximize the space and give the customer the experience that we wantthem to have so it all starts in the customer journey. We want to make surethat the space is conducive to these live working solutions, as you canimagine, it takes a lot of space. We also want it to be somewhere where it'sinteresting for our resellers to go. They want to go there. They want totake a week and four o four or five days away from their businesses andtheir families. The other thing is, we want to make sure that it's in an areawhere the majority of the people it's easy to get to, and it's also somethingthat you know, there's other things around the conference that gives themthe ability to witness and and learn different things about different areasof the United States as well. So we want to go to interesting places tomake sure that they're, you know not only enjoying their time professionally, but also have a little bit of time. Personally as well- and you said, you've been doing this event since two...

...thousand and fourteen what are some ofthe things that you have learned in the last five years to make this eventbetter. Every single time I will say one of the things that we learned, themost was there's the technology side of what Inger micro does. The other thingthat Ingram is really groot at helping our reseller partners do is takeoperating costs out of their businesses. So you wouldn't necessarily think ormany wouldn't think, that a distributor who distributes you know products andservices in the IT market is somebody that can help a business. Oror takecosts out of their business. But we do that and we do that in ways byeducating on sales and compensation. And how do you have a really you knowgood balance sheet and what are some Ahr challenges? And how can we help you?You know be a subject matter, expert in that field, and how do we help youincrease your pipeline, so you're selling more, you know, sailed, andit's not just about technology. So it was really something that we hadlearned that our partners needed, and...

...it was something that we offered andcould offer either through Ingram's experteeth as a large company or evenbringing in consultants to help them do that and as we've progressed throughoutthe the one events, I don't want to say it's less about technology, because wealways want to be the cutting edge of technology and show our customers whatthe roadmap is for technology, so they're thinking ahead, but we alsolearn that just as equally as important as that business acument that they sodesperately need and want as well. I love that I love the Inger Miker asconstantly providing the education peace with the technology as well. Ifsomebody is looking to attend what would you say, make the one eintdifferent who should be attending and why should they go mm good question? Soone of the things that was really interesting this year M, I had theopportunity to have some conversations with IDC and we were talking about whatmake a multi vendor event interesting,...

...and why do our partners who go to a lotof events a year or have to make a choice of what events a year? Whatmakes them really want to make sure that they attend angroms, and what ID Cwas saying was a events. An general are going down going down in attendance andpeople are having making less of them while we are actually going the otherway. So for an example, over to to date, gloally we've had over twenty fivehundred unique partners that have attended our one event, and so our ournumbers are going up, and why is that? I will say the things that people donot want to miss is that liveworking solution Um for an example. This yearwe are going to be doing what we're calling exas o service, which is goingto allow our partners to see everything, Thet Inger Migro and our venderpartnerscan put together to make it as o service and we're going to do that inan environment of a coffee shop. So I...

...don't want to tell two too much more'cause. I want to create the suspense that people will come and see it, but the other thing is is that we areone stop shop, so you don't have to go to other conferences. All the vendorconferences that you probably would have gone to are going to be at the oneevent and we're able to bring that all into one stop shop and there'sobviously no mystery on on. Why we have that nameright yeah! No, I think that's that'sincredible! So where can people learn more and can you give us the deeps ofwhat it's happening and how they can register yeah? Absolutely so we aregoing to be in the Denver, Galord rockyes on November Eighteenth, whotwenty first of this year, the Gay Lord Rockie is a brand new property. It justopened m late last year, so it's not even a year old ye and it's incredibleyou'll get to overlook the the mountains of Denver and you can go toone t: Ingra, micro, dotcom and ethere's. Everyone on my team ismanaging that email box registration...

...will be open, Um and is open by thetime. Wo're. All listening to this and your ingermicro sales rap will be ableto help. You Ge get an invitation to that. If you haven't already receivedone so that you can get involved in the one of them, and my final question foryou, holly is: Where do you see? Technology going within the next year? Carry always love it when somebody asksa marketer about technology trends. So thank you for asking that. Here's whatI see in a couple of different areas, doing some research an andunderstanding what the futureis bringing for Ai and blockchain bytwenty twenty one AI is going to be in seventy five percent of our commercialapps, so that something we're definitely hedging our bets on Han withthat raps around a whole bunch of other technologies such as cloud and data andIot. So it's definitely something that...

...we atingram are making sure that wehave business units around and marketing programs to support, and then, lastly, in the digital economy, we need more and more people to be able toconnect and in order to move from a single economy, to connect to theeconomy, they can't do it all alone, so Welt's, not necessarily technologicallydriven it's how to thrive in m the ecosystem that we're in and partners. Our reseller partners are going to have TDO partner with each other, to puttogether the software systems and computer hardware and softwaresolutions that the end users are demanding because they can't do italone. So the best part is that Yonger Micros here to help them do all of thatperfect. Will thank you so much holly for sharing the background of this. What's coming and your excitement for it all wel. Thank you. Carr reallyappreciate it. If you like this episode or have a question, join the discussionon twitter at Ingram Texsol with the...
