I'm your host, Shelby Skirt Hawk, and our guest today is Beth Moses, commercial print business development for HP. Beth, Welcome, oh thanks for having me. Glad to be here. Absolutely well. Today we're talking about smart printing solutions with HP plus. But first, Beth, if you will tell us what is HP plus? I mean, I guess. Can you give us a little bit of an overview? Sure, I'm happy too. So HP plus is a new solution that HP launched about a year ago to our Sumer market and it really includes...

...not just only a printer, but it's a printer supplies and a software solution that really helps customers and gives them more in their overall printing environment. Got It. Then, this year we are launching an HP plus solution that is really targeted for small businesses. So we're coming into the commercial space, into the business environment, and it's a printing solution that's called the smart printing solution that gives customers more in their SMB printing environment. It again is printers, supplies and a software solution. Okay, yeah, so HP plus it was first introduced as a consumer now this is more of a commercial print focused program with hardware and software. Like you said, you mentioned the SMBS. You know, I guess. Can you expand a little bit on on. You know who H P plus is well suited for. You know what sorts of SMB s are we talking about right? Well, we're talking about the generalist...

I t person at an SMB organization. So a small business, maybe a D under a hundred employees or so, and some typical businesses might be a retail shop, a restaurant, a small medical office, those sorts of customers that really don't have an I d department and there maybe office administrator does all of the I t management and really needs a great printing solution that's simple and easy to deploy and manage for all of those employees to keep them up and running. Yeah, I think, uh, I think a lot of small businesses can relate to this. Uh, I t generalists. Often Times it's, you know, you don't have a big I t department. You don't have somebody that specializes in printers and somebody that specializes in network administration and all these things. It is one person that is basically doing you know, she's a Jill or Jack of all trades. So right, right, absolutely,...

...they definitely do it all and uh, it's it's a hard job. I wouldn't. Well, yeah, I mean, because you're you're having to cover a lot of things that you just don't know how to do. You're kind of coming across these things as any given day. And so when we look at the pain points that, you know, potential customers like SM B s are experiencing with their you know, with their offices and their printing solutions right now, what specific troubles are they having right so? Um, from our research, we found that nine out of ten small business owners say that they report problems with their setup and printing environments. They want to simplify their printing processes, just make it easy. You know, they have a job to do and it's not manage their printers. And so what we really have found is that these generalist I T S in small businesses need to have a simple solution to be able to easily deploy their printers, make sure they're up and running all the time and then be able to quickly and easily manage those so...

...that they can get onto their job, whether whether it be, you know, running a restaurant or running a medical office or whatever it might be. Yeah, so let's let's talk about certain segments of the of s mb s, because that that is a wide range. So let's talk about the the office segment. Maybe this is, you know, this is a company that maybe has one or two locations, I guess. Can you expand a little bit on this scenario with smbs that are dealing with offices and different locations? So, as probably all of us are aware, the hybrid working environment is really here to stay, where a small business might have multiple offices but then also might have their employees working out of a Home Office as well, and so these generalists I t folks that are trying to do it all really have to manage the printer across all of those different environments, multiple office locations,...

...as well as the customers that those customers that have employees working out of their houses as well, and so it's multiple locations, multiple devices, all connected through the Internet and it's really a challenge for these small business owners that really just don't have the expertise to be able to do that right right. Well, you know, of course, hybrid hasn't made anything anything easier on anybody, except for the employees that are, you know, finally able to work from home. But you know that presents their their own specific challenges, namely having to deal with with kind of their own printer issues. So, diving into more of the specific kind of industries or profiles of s MB s, can we talk a little bit about some other examples that you mentioned? People within, you know, maybe the medical field, are these office medical offices and who is typically trying to manage all of this? Is it a an...

I t person or, like you said to me, is it more the office manager that's really doing a little bit of everything right? Right? Well, it's definitely an office manager that's trying to do it all and it's probably about under twenty printers, or so we're looking at. That would be the target customer. But having the ability to connect the printers to the Internet is important because the HP plus solution does require an Internet connected printer at all times. Um a couple of reasons for that is that HP has a cloud system that monitors those printers and ensures that they're up and running, as well as really has a great security system, and it's called the HP Wolf Pro System, which is a solution that helps customers understand that their printers are always secure, their devices are always secure, their documents are always secure with that that security feature. Yeah, yeah, because of course security is a always on,...

...certainly the top of mind for I t professionals, but it becomes one of those things that, okay, that's the last thing I need is to is to worry about. If, you know, maybe I haven't been keeping up with certain patches or drivers or updates, and and now I've I've left these printers vulnerable. So that you said the this wolf system. It helps protect the security features on both hardware and software. Is that right? Right? So the wolf's pro security system is built into these HP plus printers. It's a solution that we've had on our four hundred pro products for quite a while, but we're bringing it into the small business space now through the HP plus solution, and really it helps to ensure that customers printers are always up to date because it's cloud connected. It's monitored seven so that if there is an issue at all with knew these printers, the office admin will be notified...

...through the smart Admin Dashboard that they've set up to be able to monitor these printers. The printers are always kept up to date, firmware is always updated, software solutions are always updated. So really great solution. Put it in place, HP does the work and the customer can go about doing doing their job and not worrying about their printers or the security in the system. Right well, another concern for businesses is is maybe the environmental impact that they're printing is having. So does HP plus help address this in any way? Absolutely so. HP has been dedicated to sustainability efforts for quite a long time. We were excited last year when HP plus was launched because we also launched a new program called forest first, and what this does is monitors the pages printed on HP plus printers and then HP is dedicated to forest management and forest rereforce...

...station, I guess, is the word, to ensure that forests our managed for pages printed on HP plus printers. So really excited about this new program has a lot of great success over the past year and we'll continue moving forward with it as the HP plus printers continue to get out in the marketplace. But in addition Um, we also have closed loop recycling, which is very important and has been around for a while with our HP planet partner program any cartridges that are returned from customers that have been, you know, using the cartridges, used cartridges get returned to HP and then they get recycled back into new cartridges and so no cartridges end up in the landfill either. So both of those two programs are are really exciting and really help build HP sustainability solution and help customers feel better about, you know, the pages that they do print. Yeah, absolutely so. For our Ingram micro partners that that are listening and uh, you know, interested in introducing HP plus to their customers,...

...first of all, is this program already launched and then can we talk about how they can, you know, introduce this and find out more information about it for their for their end users and customers? Yeah, so, as I had mentioned, the HP plus printers more focused at consumers. Um launched last year, in July of last year, and so those have been out of the market for about a year now. Um Ingram micro is able to sell those printers as they make sense, maybe for our work from home solution or maybe a micro business. But this new solution, HP plus for business, which is the SMB focused solution, is launching this summer, so hot off the press. Should be seeing some information about that in the coming weeks and please contact your ingram micro rep or your hp rep if you have one as well, and they can give you some great sales tools as well as customer facing documents and materials that you'll be able to share with your customers about the HP plus solution for business. Excellent. Well. So, as...

...we start to wrap up our episode, we always ask our guests the same final question, and that's where do you see technology going in the next year? It can be within this particular platform, it give us maybe something else that that you're personally interested in. So I guess I grabbed that, that crystal ball, if you will, Beth, and tell us where do you see technology going in the next year? Oh Boy, well, if I had a crystal ball, let's see. So because I'm print focused. Um, you know, that's been my life for the past several years. I can tell you a little bit about the print environment and what we're seeing is customers are really looking for printing solutions that help them do work wherever and whenever they want. It might be late at night, it might be um working from a coffee shop, from their car, from home, from the office. Really customers are looking to have technology integrated into their daily lives, wherever they may be, and UM H P plus really helps with that because it...

...is a cloud connected solution. But there's also other technologies that I think we're going to be seeing coming out even more so in the next year, really around workflows and productivity Um to really help customers integrate the digital world with their physical world, with their printing world, and so I'm excited about all the possibilities that are that are out there that hybrid work and distributed workforce really is bringing to the forefront for us. Yeah, absolutely. Well, that does it for our episode. Beth. Thank you so much for joining me and all of our insight today. You're welcome. Great to be here.
